Your life, your way
We are all individuals and this should be honoured in our death.
Did you know that you can have a funeral ceremony anywhere, you don't have to be restricted to 20 mins in a crematorium?
Most people do not know this and end up with a ceremony that doesn't allow any time for family and friends to truly honour the life.
We support people to have ceremonies in all sorts of places which have included:
Stately homes, wedding venues, village halls, meadows, people's homes.
DIY? A DIY funeral? Really?
Most people are unaware that, in the UK, you are not legally required to use a funeral director, you can organise the entire funeral yourself including caring for your dead at home, with special provisions.
If you would like any advise on this please do contact Holly to discuss further.
Many funeral directors will 'sell' this to you as 'Hygienic Cleansing', and quite often they will advise that if you want to spend time with your relative then you have to have them embalmed. This is incorrect, the only legal reason someone needs to be embalmed is if they are being repatriated. Embalming is highly invasive and with modern refrigeration methods is not normally necessary. Holly cares for the people in her care by keeping them cool and using gentle and natural essential oils to preserve and care for the body.
You are entitled to purchase a coffin from anywhere, be aware though that many funeral directors will penalise you financially for doing so, always check when choosing a funeral director how much they will charge you for the privilege of purchasing a coffin elsewhere.
Many people like to decorate cardboard coffins to truly personalise the coffin, you can also stick photo's and other pictures to the coffin too. Some people offer the option of writing their final messages on the coffin during the funeral ceremony.
